Touring in Pitztal – An adventure
The Ötztal Alps, to which Pitztal belongs geographically, are a true natural paradise and ideally suited to extensive ski tours.
Beginners and advanced skiers alike will get their money’s worth with courses for beginners and a wide range of guided tours to give everyone the chance to experience ski touring.
For all those who wish to explore the mountains under their own steam, there are countless ski touring options with high-alpine destinations high above the limits of the 3,000 metre peaks. From K2 at 3,253 metres to the Rositzkogel at 3,394 metres to the Schluchtkogel at a proud 3,471 metres – that’s enough to make anyone’s heart race!
On the roof of Tyrol
For experienced ski tourers, a tour to Tyrol’s highest mountain – the Wildspitze – is a special highlight of the holiday.
To start the tour, you first take the Gletscherexpress and the Mittelbergbahn gondola up the mountain and from there attach your skins before starting the ascent to the Taschachferner glacier.
Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the three-thousand-metre peaks, you continue from here to the ski depot and on to the summit. Up there – at 3,774 metres above sea level – you see the Pitztal Alps in all their glory.
